Eshu by Roger Sveian
At the very forefront of the Uber coolness frontier is the Eshu by designer Roger Sveian. When it’s won the “Sofa of the Year 2003 ” award by Elle Interior, you know it’s got it made. The undeniable elegance of this piece has got it featured in among others, Miami Vice , the movie, one heck of a cool show. Slam bang thank you mam. The Eshu transcends its status as just a sofa, it has reached the state where it is regarded as art even. It was proudly accepted for display in the National Museum for Decorative Arts (Norway) the year it was showcased.
Looking for some seating for hotels ? For something to grace your lobby but just can’t find furniture good enough ? Well, the Eshu is here. A modern sculpture even with a classical take on the shape, it is sure to draw attention wherever it is placed. Not just a pretty thing to look at, the dense nozag spring system and 3 layer laminated foam make sure it’s really comfy too.
I must say from a design standpoint, the separated layers are simply genius. Roger Sveian has turned what would otherwise be a “normal” cool sofa into something that will stick in our minds forever as being in the realm of the Barcelona chair. Somehow that strip of bare space makes all the difference.
